Trusting the Current: My Human Design Journey in Action

“When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.” — The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Trusting the current.

That quote feels like a perfect summary of the last few years of my life.

As a Generator in Human Design, my strategy is to wait to respond and trust my gut. When something enters my orbit and I feel that internal “yes,” my job is to follow it. Reading The Alchemist itself was an example of that — it kept showing up until I responded.

But the bigger story has been what happened after I left the classroom in 2022.

After 20 years as a teacher, I stepped away to build my coaching business. I imagined clarity and momentum. Instead, I found myself trying to do business the “right” way — networking in ways that didn’t feel natural, chasing opportunities that looked good on paper but didn’t sit right in my body. When I ignored my gut, nothing catastrophic happened… but things stalled. Conversations fizzled. Opportunities dissolved. It simply didn’t feel aligned.

At the same time, I stepped into a part-time role supporting English teachers in the ed-tech world. It stretched me in ways I never expected — travel, corporate spaces, new skills. And yet, even there, I went through seasons of questioning myself. Was I doing enough? Should I choose a more traditional path? Was I contributing in the “right” way?

Human Design kept quietly reminding me: trust your authority.

Then came 2024 — and the lesson got louder. Recurring, hormone-related migraines forced me to slow down. For months at a time, I was completely down for days. Efficiency had always been one of my strengths, but this season required rest. Deep rest. It was a recalibration — physically and energetically. I had to reconnect to my body, to my intuition, to my limits.

And in that slowing down, something beautiful re-emerged.

Human Design came back into my life in a deeper way. I pursued certification, leaned into mentor coaching, and began reshaping my business around what genuinely lights me up. Instead of asking, “What should I build?” I began asking, “What feels like a full-body yes?”

Today, I feel more connected to my own voice than I have in years. I’m not entirely sure where this path leads — but I trust the current. I trust that prioritizing excitement, rest, community, and alignment will carry me exactly where I’m meant to go.

What excites me most now is helping other women see this in themselves:You are whole. You are uniquely wired. You already have your answers.

Coaching, through the lens of Human Design, isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about remembering who you are — and having the courage to follow that inner authority.

Once you decide to step into that current, you may be surprised where it takes you.
